Nuage Seating Systems

People Centred

The system accommodates the curves of the body and comfortably supports whatever position the person prefers. Its low-stimulus large-area support sets it apart. The many adjustable options also make the system suitable for people with asymmetrical posture.

The seating position can be adjusted precisely to fit the body. This is particularly helpful in pelvic obliquity, kyphosis or a difference in leg length. The chair’s settings are easily adjusted, such as if the user’s sitting posture changes over time.

Seating Vision

“Improve the well-being of people with a degenerative central nervous system disease, such as Dementia, ALS, MS, CVA and Parkinson’s, by offering a seating solution that allows them to continue to participate in their environment.”

Why
It is essential that people with sitting-related problems, who cannot adjust their sitting posture themselves and who have impaired body sensations and/or body awareness, have the best possible seating support.

What
A seating solution that matches the results of the ICF assessment of the person’s functioning. A modular seating system that guarantees a comfortable and relaxed seated posture. The seating system is easily adaptable to any potential changes in the user’s needs over time.

How
By offering a seating system with a large, soft cushion that moulds itself to the user’s body. As such, it provides optimum seating comfort, optimum pressure distribution and sufficient low-stimulus support. The sinking effect of the cushions gives the user a feeling of being cradled, of safety and security. Thanks to the many adjustment options for seat height, back and seat contour, the seating system is suitable for all body types and seated postures. This makes it extremely suitable for people with an asymmetrical seated posture or body, providing comfortable support for any preferred position. The seating element moulds itself to the body’s contours, providing a relaxed sitting experience.

Functional Assessment

People Centred
When designing the Nuage, Aleidis put people at the heart of everything, resulting in a tailor-made solution that matches the individual care requirement. Their framework for doing so is the basic directive for medical aids. The Nuage seating system’s product features are matched to the functional requirements that arise from the client’s care requirement.

Suitable for Whom?

In the design and innovation process, the users’ needs formed their starting point. Aleidis carefully analysed a person’s disorder and disability on the basis of the care requirement, enabling them to identify the relevant functional requirements. The product features are selected to match these functional requirements, so that the seating system offers a guaranteed solution.

The users
The user is not able to stand or sit independently without aids Due to disorders, often caused by a (degenerative) neurological disease, the user needs intensive help with activities of daily living (ADLs). For example, they need help getting in and out of bed. Users often have an aphysiological and/or asymmetrical seated posture. Physical deformities may also be present, or the user may be at risk of developing these. Besides keeping the user well-positioned when sitting, it is important for the chair to be individually adjustable to the contours of their buttocks and back, thus moulding itself precisely to the body contours.

Due to the loss of body awareness, there is a need for contact with the skin (tactile support) and a sensation of being cradled. A large-area support that surrounds the body is, therefore, necessary. The contouring of the seat ensures that the user sits in the chair instead of on the chair. This body support prevents unnecessary muscle tension and reduces the stress experienced by the user. In addition, it helps to reduce the development of contracture and improve stamina. Hypersensitivity can cause very painful skin and muscles if the user is incorrectly positioned. The aids used should contribute to avoiding/preventing discomfort, pain stimuli and contraction as much as possible, ensuring the user is more relaxed and can connect with their environment. Thanks to the seating system, the user will no longer be bed-bound and will instead be able to engage in social interaction, eat at the table, and, when accompanied, go outside.

Maximum seating comfort

  • Contouring (sinking effect) of the seat and back cushions. User sits in the chair rather than on it.
  • Proprioceptive absorbing stimuli and sufficient supporting capacity
  • Fewer stimuli due to the tactile feedback
  • Full support thanks to large seat and back support surface
  • Gentle support that does not chafe the skin

Improved trunk stability

  • Improved trunk stability through precise and individual buttock and back contour support.
  • Stimulates muscle relaxation
  • The seating system can be precisely adjusted to the user’s body and adapted to their developing and/or changing posture
  • Being able to sit well positioned
  • Suitable for all body postures, including asymmetrical seated postures and bodies
  • Also helpful in case of pelvic obliquity, kyphosis or a difference in leg length.

Being able to relax better

  • Experiencing a sense of being cradled and feeling secure
  • Improved stamina due to body’s reduced energy consumption
  • Enjoy more environmental stimuli
  • Being able to participate again and no longer being bed-bound. Sitting, going outside and eating at the table

Seating System

People who are practically unable to move independently, tend to slump and thus require large-area support benefit from a seating system that fully supports the hips and back. To ensure an optimally fitting seating experience, the system is adjustable and adaptable to body shape and type. Also for users with an aphysiological and/or asymmetrical seated posture. The Nuage PLS has a number of product features that are combined to provide optimal support to meet the user’s specific needs.

The Contouring Cushion

Optimal seating comfort

To provide the user with optimum seating comfort and pressure distribution, the contouring cushion is both soft and firm. The specially developed contouring cushion is filled with pin foam natural rubber and multifibre balls, materials that have been specifically selected for their softness and rigidity. The user experiences a large-area soft input with sufficient supporting capacity. The contouring cushion has a sinking effect so that you sit in the chair rather than on it.

Nuage Side

Multi-adjustable Webbing Straps

Follow the contours of the body

For people who need a seating system that follows the contours of the body closely. The multi-adjustability of this seating system presents an excellent solution. The unique adjustment options provide comfortable and adequate support for people with an asymmetrical seated posture.

In case of pelvic obliquity, kyphosis or a difference in leg length, the backrest and seat can be fully and asymmetrically adjusted in 1 cm increments with webbing straps. This reduces tension on the body and improves posture, as a result of which the user will be able to relax more.

The flexibility of this system makes the chair suitable for easy adjustment by a fitter. View the instructions and experience how easy it is.

The Ibis Pro Base

Optimises seated posture

When combined with the Ibis pro base, the seat height and seat angle are adjustable, further optimising the sitting position and making it suitable for users of any height. The user can remain seated in the wheelchair and the chair can be reclined into a sleeping position.

Nuage Side Reclined

Tilt the seat to a reclined position

The chair can be tilted to a reclined position. The user can be moved into a reclined position in the seating system if they need to relax or sleep during the day. This eliminates the need for an extra chair-to-bed transfer.

WHY NUAGE?

The system accomodates the curves of the body and comfortably supports whatever position the person prefers. The low-stimulus large-area support sets the system apart. The many adjustable options also make the system suitable for people with asymmetrical posture. The seating position can be adjusted precisely to fit the body. This is particularly helpful in case of pelvic obliquity, kyphosis or a difference in leg length. The chair’s settings are easy to adjust, such as if the user’s sitting posture changes over time.

When combined with the Ibis base, the seat height and seat angle can be adjusted in 1 cm increments, meaning that the chair can be adjusted to the user’s height to further optimise their seated posture. The chair is also easy to move.
There are three types of seating systems and accessories, and specific head, arm, calf and leg rests are available for more comfort and customisation.
