This 3-5 day super-intensive course puts attendees in the shoes of our Clinical Seating Specialists. Breaking down every step of our approach to producing bespoke seating for clients with needs, right from assessment to final delivery.
2-Day Programme – Dealers & Technical Representatives
Seating dealers, product specialists, technical reps, and commercial teams who support custom seating provision but are not acting as the lead clinical decision-maker.
This programme provides a foundational understanding of the LCS Moulding Approach, enabling dealers to safely support clinicians, understand moulding workflows, and communicate accurately with manufacturing and clinical teams.
The focus is on:
- Understanding the end-to-end moulding pathway (assessment → mould → scan → production → fit)
- Recognising how clinical decisions influence final seating outcomes
- Developing competence in equipment setup, scanning, photography, and documentation
- Understanding product selection logic and how CARE supports clinical reasoning
- Identifying red flags and knowing when to escalate back to clinicians
Dealers are not trained to lead moulding clinically, but will leave with the confidence to:
- Assist safely during moulding sessions
- Avoid actions that compromise clinical outcomes
- Accurately explain seating concepts to therapists, clients, and families
- Support production and QA processes with high-quality data
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Describe the clinical purpose of custom moulded seating
- Prepare and manage moulding equipment correctly
- Perform scanning and clinical photography to required standards
- Understand correction vs accommodation at a conceptual level
- Communicate effectively with clinicians and manufacturers
- No independent clinical decision-making
- No unsupervised moulding
- Focus on support, communication, and technical accuracy
3-Day Programme – Experienced Therapists (OTs / PTs)
Experienced occupational therapists and physiotherapists who already work in wheelchair seating and postural management and wish to advance their moulding skills and clinical reasoning.
This programme develops advanced clinical application of the LCS Moulding Approach, building on existing seating knowledge. The emphasis is on clinical reasoning, safe correction, and translating assessment into precise moulding strategies.
The course includes:
- Advanced pelvic, trunk, and lower-limb assessment
- Translating functional goals into moulding plans
- Managing tone, asymmetry, and complex postures
- Hands-on moulding using pelvic-up and head-down strategies
- Understanding material properties and CARE-guided product selection
- Mid-fit analysis and common error correction
Participants actively lead moulding sessions under supervision and refine their ability to:
- Decide what to correct vs what to accommodate
- Manage risk during moulding
- Communicate clinical intent clearly to production teams
- Critically analyse moulds and finished products
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Independently assess complex seated posture
- Plan and conduct moulding sessions safely
- Justify moulding decisions clinically and functionally
- Identify and correct common moulding and fit errors
Select materials and systems based on biomechanical principles
- Independent moulding within scope of professional practice
- Suitable for complex but non-novice clinical caseloads
- Builds competence, not basic foundations
5-Day Programme – New Therapists & Advanced Learners
- Therapists new to custom moulded seating
- Clinicians transitioning into complex seating roles
- Therapists seeking deep mastery of the moulding process
This programme is the full LCS Moulding Approach curriculum, delivering comprehensive clinical, technical, and practical competence. It establishes moulding as a clinical intervention, not a technical task.
The programme covers:
- Foundational ethics, consent, and documentation
- Full ICF-based clinical assessment
- 24-hour postural management principles
- Risk identification and red-flag decision-making
- Complete moulding workflow in depth
- Advanced asymmetry management (scoliosis, windswept, rotation)
- Scanning, data governance, and GDPR compliance
- Manufacturing methods, QA, and tolerances
- Mid-fit alterations and tool safety
- Delivery, final fitting, and carer training
- Review cycles, maintenance, and long-term change management
Participants progress from supported practice to independent execution, developing the confidence and competence to manage complex seating cases safely.
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Independently assess, plan, and deliver custom moulded seating
- Manage high-risk and complex postural presentations
- Apply moulding strategies matched to tone and deformity
- Communicate effectively across MDT, manufacturing, and families
- Deliver seating that supports function, comfort, and long-term health
- Full independent clinical moulding practice
- Suitable for complex paediatric and adult caseloads
- Forms a strong foundation for specialist seating roles
